About House of Cheviot
The House of Cheviot is situated in the historic town of Hawick in the Scottish Borders, an area famous for its knitwear. Our clientele ranges from royalty to gamekeepers, and our military connections include the Royal Regiment of Scotland. We are very proud of our association with the film industry, especially the Harry Potter films for which we created the Hogwarts socks, pullovers and scarves.
At the House of Cheviot, we combine traditional skills developed over 200 years with the very latest knitting technology, to produce the finest collection of country and kilt socks. For almost 10 years, our team in Hawick has been responsible for creating some of the finest country socks, shooting stockings and kilt hose available. Our enviable reputation for quality means that the House of Cheviot supplies retailers, wholesalers and distributors at the top end of the market in the UK and, now, through our partnership with New House Highland, in North America.
For the country market, our sock range offers cushion comfort alongside technical performance; for the highland kilt market, we have the capability to offer a bespoke service to create hose to match most clan tartans.
Our traditional and contemporary sock and hose designs are machine or hand knitted in the finest merino wool blend before being hand finished. The House of Cheviot also produces a range of cashmere socks, gloves and scarves, lambswool knitwear and tweed caps to complement our main product range.
During manufacture, House of Cheviot products pass through many pairs of skilled hands, ensuring that all of our finished garments are of a consistently high standard.

About New House Highland
New House Highland is the family business of Matthew & Joannie Newsome. Matthew Newsome is the Director of the Scottish Tartans Museum in Franklin, NC, and Governor of the Scottish Tartans Authority, based in Crieff, Scotland. He is also a kiltmaker, specializing in historic and traditional styles of the kilt. His wife, Joannie, is a master knitter, as well as a home-schooling mother for their five children.
In his work through the Scottish Tartans Museum and Scottish Tartans Authority, Matthew has always strived to promote authentic Scottish traditions and to showcase the best that the Scottish people have to offer in terms of Highland dress manufacture. He fell in love with the product range offered by the House of Cheviot when he first encountered their hose and garters.
New House Highland is extremely pleased to be able to offer this wide range of quality Scottish garments to the North American market.
